My name is Katie.  I am twenty years old, and am from Amherst, Ohio.  This past spring I finished my second year at a community college and I am going to take this next year off of school to be a first year missionary to South Africa.  I am so excited to see what God has in store for me this next year and I am looking forward to what He is going to teach me through this awesome experience.  I was raised in a christian family and have always been involved with my church youth group.   During my high school years, I was given the opportunity to go on a couple of mission trips, and ever since then, I have always felt God calling me to pursue more mission opportunities.  I have such a desire to serve God and show others Christ’s love and be an example of how God can change the desires of your heart.  I was always extremely shy and never wanted to participate in things that were outside of my comfort zone.  After praying about missions and AIM, God changed my heart and has given me such a desire to venture out and serve Him.  “Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.”  I know that God has given me the desire to pursue missions, and along with that desire, He has given me the comfort and strength to move outside of what is comfortable to me.

  1. Hi, Katie –
I read your bio after reading your blog about a hunger for God. When you quoted Psalm 37:4, I knew I had to respond, because that verse means so much to me. I am 57, and just about to finish my nursing education for my RN degree. I went to school specifically so I could serve the Lord in missions in Africa. Last summer I had the privilege of spending 10 days in Uganda on a mission trip, and now I am planning to return to work in a clinic in Ggaba, Uganda this July. God put a desire in my heart for missions, and He has “accomplished that which concerns me”, so that I am now ready to go and serve. I am so eager to return! What an exciting thing, that you are following where he leads! Hang on for a great adventure!

  2. Hi Katie – what a blessing for us to read your blog. Both Santi & I were reminded of great memories when you were here in Ecuador with the Trinity team! And now to see you on the mission field by yourself! We are truly blessed. We will pray for you and your ministry. We also enjoyed that you have an Ecuador photo in your photos! how fun!
